Lion Electric to Produce 114mpg Ford Escape PHEV

LionEV has announced plans to be first company out of the gate at producing a plug-in hybrid. The big automakers won't have anything ready until 2011, so that gives them 3 years of running room. They use a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) Prismatic battery which they claim will have 2000 charge cycles and be ultra safe.

In 2008 they will be producing two SUV's. Both of them based on the Ford Escape platform. The first vehicle will be the Ford Escape SUV, full LionEV electric version. Loaded with the original factory features and a range of up to 120 miles per charge.

The second vehicle is the Ford Escape Hybrid, in the plug in variety making it the best of both worlds! For some reason car manufacturers don't seem to be interested in taking that one extra step of allowing the vehicle pack to be charged from the grid. So, we have done it for them. Highway MPG stays about the same at 30-40, but city MPG increases to the energy equivalent of 114 MPG. The other factory features remain the same.

All LionEV vehicles retain their original factory warranties for parts from the transmission back. LionEV warranties from the transmission forward match those of the factory warranty. Battery packs for our vehicles are warrantied for as long as you own the vehicle.

Delivery time is 8 to 10 weeks from the time of order..
